Mandated Reporter Training is program designed to educate individuals on their duties and responsibilities as a Mandated Reporter. A Mandated Reporter is someone who is required by law to report any suspected abuse or neglect.
WHO MUST REPORT?
Anyone can report child abuse/neglect, but the following persons MUST report, or can be charged with a misdemeanor: physician, dentist, physician’s assistant, registered dental hygienist, medical examiner, nurse person licensed to provide emergency medical care, audiologist, psychologist, marriage and family therapist, licensed professional counselor, certified social worker, social worker, social worker technician, school administrator, school counselor or teacher, law enforcement officer, member of the clergy, or regulated child care provider.
WHAT ARE THE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS?
A mandated reporter MUST report IMMEDIATELY to the Department of Human Services when that person “has reasonable cause to suspect child abuse or neglect” to a child under the age of 18 years old.
