The Huron County CA/N Council is a non-profit agency that seeks to eliminate child abuse and neglect in Huron County. Our Council is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who meet on a quarterly basis. While we do not engage in direct service with families, we support programs that do, as well as education and awareness efforts.

Mission Statement:
It is the intention of the CAN Council to work collaboratively with community partners to prevent child abuse and neglect in Huron County

Organizational Vision: It is the Vision of the Huron County CA/N Council that ALL children in Huron County will grow up in safe, supportive environments.

The Council has established the following as objectives for 2016 through 2018 to guide this effort.

1. 120 adults will receive Darkness to Light training annually which will enable participants to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

2. Kindergarten and 3rd grade children in Huron County will receive three 20-minute sessions of the Talking About Touching curriculum which teaches them about physical safety and appropriate physical touch.

3. Educate and support new parents and caregivers regarding Safe Sleep in Huron County.

4. Grow the Board of Directors by adding three new agencies over the three-year grant period.
